I'll start out with honesty - I didn't get to the gym the day after my last post. However, I did get to the gym today. It felt good and I know I've got to get into a rhythm and schedule of going. This week I've been distracted with the fun of setting up my new business. It's very distracting and full of possibility and I feel like this could be what I've been praying for for a long time.
At the beginning of the year, I decided to become a Thirty One consultant. If you've heard of Thirty One, you'll know it's a company that's about celebrating, encouraging and rewarding women by offering quality products and an outstanding career opportunity. Does it sound like I've been drinking the Kool-aid? Yep, it does and yep, I have.
See, I was introduced to Thirty One at a party last fall. The products were pretty, priced at something I could afford, and I wanted to support my neighbor so she could earn extra merchandise based on the sales volume of her party. When I got my wallet, I loved it. I got so many complements on it, I couldn't believe it. So I decided to host a small catalog party of my own. I didn't have anyone come to my house, I simply showed the catalog around and got over $200 in sales in little to no time. When my consultant asked if I'd be interested in joining her team, I said "naw, not for me, but I love the products so I'll order again."
In November, my consultant called to see if I'd be interested in participating in a Turkey Trot, collecting orders and the hostess rewards would be split among the participants. Sure, why not I thought. It might be fun, especially with Christmas coming up and who couldn't use free Christmas gifts? I ended up collecting about $300 in orders - same catalog as before and many of the same people who bought earlier bought again. This time I said, "hmmmmm" when my consultant asked if I was sure I didn't want to think about joining her team. Not only did I say hmmm, I said let me talk to my husband.
So I talked with Eric and he said he'd support my decision. After asking for more information about responsibilities, cost and time commitment, my consultant suggested I collect orders through January before I actually enrolled. That way, if I didn't collect a bunch of orders or feel confident in signing up, I could just turn the orders over to her and not be out any money. This was a risk-free proposition and I really didn't have anything to lose by doing it. However in just two weeks, I collected over $350 in sales. I also had the new catalog which will be effective February 1 and guess what? I've sold another $200 from that catalog. Plus I have four parties booked for February which have even more potential sales.
I've already earned back my $99 start-up cost and Eric thinks this stuff is "Chick Crack" because I sell something almost every day. He's not far off the mark. The stuff pretty much sells itself.
I won't fib and say there aren't other supplies and things I've had to purchase so I'm not at a profit yet, but I've been at this for TWO weeks and I will be surprised if I'm not making money - cool, hard cash - by the end of February.

The Kool-aid is good and tasty and I'd love more company at my own little tea party.
Seriously...Chick Crack...
